Basic Obedience - C.L.A.S.S. (Canine Life and Social Skills) - Bachelors Level
The Bachelors Level of CLASS is the beginning of the foundation skills dogs need to cope in our busy world.  It is a class that was designed by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers

C.L.A.S.S. is about teaching and appreciating real-life, practical skills and provides dog/student teams the opportunity to have their skills evaluated by a professional dog trainer.   There are 9 stations in the novice level that the teams are evaluated on.  A Bachelor's title is earned if the team is successful.

The 9 stations are:
     Wait at the Door
     Come and Leashing Up Manners
     Loose Leash Walking and Attention
    Meet and Greet
    Leave It
    Wait for the Food Bowl
    Stay
    Settle
   Give and Take
Optional Bonus 1: Rollover, Spin, Fetch, Speak, or Paw
Optional Bonus 2: Trick of student's choice

This class will:
  • Introduce and demonstrate each of the 9 stations
  • Teach the skills required to be successful at each station
  • Provide either hand-outs or on-line videos of each station being performed properly
  • the sixth class a mock evaluation will be offered.  This will give the teams feedback as to whether or not they are prepared to take the CLASS test, or if more training is needed.
  • CLASS testing will be offered after the completion of the class.  Date and time to be determined.

This is a great basic obedience class, even if you are not interested in testing at the Bachelor's level.

 Rally (Novice)
AKC (American Kennel Club) Rally is a sport in which dog and handler complete a course of designated stations (10 - 20, depending on the level).  Each station consists of a sign providing instructions regarding the skill that is to be performed at that station.  The team proceeds at their own pace, and communication between handler and dog is encouraged.

This class will:
  • Introduce and familiarize the handler with the novice signs and how to interpret the instruction of them
  • Demonstrate the skills required for each sign and allow class time for the handler to work with her dog on each skill set.
  • Novice courses will be set up for the teams to use as part of their learning tool.
  • Cards will be given to the students of the signs used in AKC rally
